This Spring I'm renovating my back garden. I'm planning to take out the Limelight hydrangeas and create a blue and white color scheme.

The project will be done on a budget. As I've mentioned, I don't use sponsored plants for Garden Moxie. And I don't have access to wholesale nurseries.
I face the same limitations that all home gardeners face. I'm trying to create a beautiful garden without breaking the bank.
One way I save money is growing plants from seed. If you don't have space for growing seeds indoors, you might want to try winter sowing.
Winter Sowing Is Easy
I'm not a fan of collecting the plastic bottles typically used for winter sowing. I never buy stuff in the right containers and I dislike having to tape up and cut the jugs.
Luckily, I saw someone on YouTube use Ziploc bags. I gave it a try last year and it worked perfectly. Best of all. It's SO easy.
I cut drainage slits into the bottom of the bag. I use a coffee filter to prevent the soil from draining out and slice air/water openings on the top.
I need a better way to prevent the bags from flopping over this season. That was the one problem I faced last year.
Here's a couple videos showing my set up from the seed starting challenge I sponsored for 2024.
Thanks so much for being here. Do you plan to Winter sow this season? I'd love to hear what seeds are on your list?
Happy Gardening, Sue
